GROWTH STRATEGY REVIEW

FOUNDER TRANSITION PLANNING
ABOUT NEXWAVE COREPATH
NexWave CorePath started in 2018 out of a specific frustration. Marcus Ellery had spent nine years inside two mid-size professional services firms, the last four as an operations director, watching external consultants arrive, produce large documents, and leave before anything changed. The documents were often technically correct. The implementation was always someone else's problem. He left in the autumn of 2018 to build a practice where the consultant stays until the thing actually works, or at least until the client can see clearly why it is not working.
The first two years were deliberately small. Three clients in 2019, four in 2020. Marcus turned down two larger engagements in that period because the scope was unclear and the leadership teams were not ready to act on findings. That is still the filter. NexWave CorePath does not take on work where the decision-maker is not in the room. It is not a rule written on a wall somewhere. It is a lesson learned from a painful six-month engagement in early 2019 where every recommendation was approved by a middle layer and quietly shelved before it reached the people who could act on it.

BOOK A DISCOVERY CALLHow We Work
Diagnosis Before Prescription
We spend the first two weeks listening before we recommend anything. Most consultants arrive with a solution already written. We do not.
No Retainer Traps
Every engagement has a defined scope and a defined end date. We do not write open-ended contracts designed to keep us on the payroll indefinitely.
Decisions in Writing
Every recommendation we make is documented with the reasoning behind it. If we are wrong, you can show us exactly where and why.
One Point of Contact
Marcus Ellery leads every engagement personally. You will not be handed to a junior analyst after the first meeting.

When Does a Business Actually Need a Management Consultant
The question most business owners ask is: what can a consultant do for us? The more useful question is: are we in a position where external input will actually change anything? Those are different questions, and the answer to the second one is sometimes no.

What Clients Say
"Marcus told us in week two that our sales process was not the problem. We had been convinced it was for two years. He was right, and fixing the actual issue took six weeks, not six months."
CEO, Forsythe & Lowe Solicitors
"The process audit on our client delivery function was uncomfortable to read. It was also the most useful document we produced that year."

Common questions
How long does a typical engagement last?
It depends on the service. A Process Audit runs two weeks. Operational Restructuring typically takes 8 to 14 weeks. We agree the timeline before work begins and put it in writing. We do not extend engagements without a new scope conversation.
Do you work with businesses outside the UK?
Yes, though the majority of our clients are UK-based. We have worked with organisations in Ireland, the Netherlands, and Germany. Remote-first engagements work well for strategy and advisory work. Restructuring and alignment work benefits from at least some in-person time.
What size of organisation do you typically work with?
Most clients have between 15 and 120 employees. Below that, the issues are usually founder-specific and better addressed through coaching. Above that, the complexity often requires a larger team than we field. There are exceptions in both directions.
Can we start with a smaller piece of work before committing to a larger engagement?
Yes. The Process Audit at £2,900 is specifically designed for this. It gives you a clear picture of one operational area and a sense of how we work. Several of our longer engagements started with an audit.
Do you offer ongoing retainer arrangements?
The Board Advisory service is structured as an ongoing engagement, minimum six months. For other services, we do not offer open-ended retainers. When the defined work is complete, the engagement closes. If further work is needed, we write a new scope.
